Magical Hoi An

I had a magical afternoon/evening exploring Hoi An with the Watanabes and co.  The ‘tourist’ area is alight with strings of lanterns merrily zigzag-ing above the streets like a graceful figure skater.  We were delighted by the touters who very lightly tried to sell their fruit, flapping birds and interesting street food.  The typical Vietnamese straw hat is a fixture for people of all ages, occupations and activities… and of course, Hoi An was no exception.  The streets were busy with tourists and locals mingling like all the colours of M&Ms, and all seemed content in this sleepy but delightful little town.

The Japanese covered bridge and a 200 year old home were two of the attractions you can pay a small fee to enter.

Next time, I think I would try to see the water puppet show, though I believe I will have a chance to do that later, in another location.

 

Of course, in the evening when the brilliant, paper lanterns are alight, the glowing illumination is even more magnetic and bewitching!  This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-see when visiting Vietnam!
