Building Blocks

A significant landmark to get to my house is a series of large hollow cement cubes.  They were a bit of a mystery to us foreigners in town for some time.

Lots of speculation as to what they were being stored from, where they came from and where they would go when tonnes of men on flatbed trucks would tumble up and load them on and drive away.  Until one day, when we were told they are being used to build an artificial reef for scuba divers.  Alot of local coral was destroyed in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami so apparently the hope is an artificial reef will keep local and tourist divers happy.
A few weeks ago they began to actually make them here so it’s a fascinating process.

A cement truck fills a series of frames in a row and they are set out in the hot Thailand sun to dry.
